3.71. EstiMate has encountered a problem error when closing EstiMate

When I close EstiMate I get an error that says EstiMate has encountered a problem and would I like to send a report to microsoft. I click don't send and the program shuts down but how do I correct this problem?

There are two files in your estimate data file that are corrupt and need to be deleted.

Preliminary steps.

1. Data backup.

To backup your data:

A. Click Management > backup-restore data files.
B. Click the backup button.
C. Choose a location to save the file.
D. Name the file and click save.

2. Close EstiMate. If on a network, make sure EstiMate is closed on ALL machines before proceeding

The following procedure assumes your data folder is located at C:\Program Files\EstiMate\Data if you have the data folder in a different location you will need to modify these instructions accordingly.

1. Open windows explorer. Open the C drive, open the Program Files folder and open the EstiMate data folder.

2. Click View > List from the menu bar above to sort the databases in alpabetical order.

3. Find the file ePC.zip and delete it.

4. Find shop.zip and delete it. NOTE: DO NOT DELETE shop.db delete ONLY shop.zip. If you are not sure what the file extension is, consult your windows documentation to learn how to enable file extensions before deleting anything.

5. Close the data folder and restart EstiMate.

6. Close EstiMate to confirm the error has disappeared.

Q & A:

I don't see a data folder when I try to navigate to it through windows explorer in step 1. What's wrong?

A: Make sure you are lookin in 'program files' and not simply 'programs'. If you confirm you are indeed in the 'program files'folder but still do not see it then it may have been renamed or moved. You may try doing a search on architem.db and this may turn up the location of the data folder.

Q: Now I have trouble opening EstiMate what now?

A: There may be lock files preventing EstiMate from opening.
Close EstiMate and repeat the procedure, but this time also delete pdoxusrs.lck, paradox.lck and pdoxusrs.net if found and try to reopen EstiMate.
