3.159. Why do I have an unusually high production time when doing painted signs?
I am showing 4 hours of production time for a simple painted background with one coat of paint. Why is this so high?
Your minimum for painting a background may be set arbitrarily high. Lower the minimum and the production times should look normal. The procedure is as follows:
1. From EstiMate's main screen click Management>Configure EstiMate.
2. Click on the minimums tab and look at the entry labeled 'What is your min. charge to paint a sign background (labor & materials)' it should not be too far off the default of $10.00. If it is you may want to consider lowering the figure to normalize production time when quoting a painted sign.
3. Click the green OK checkmark to return to the main screen.
When you are inputting the information about the sign that you are estimating, it tells you the maximum number of hours you can spend on that job without dropping below your hourly rate. That has been a big boost for me. When the estimate has been accepted by the client, with one click, I convert the estimate into a job. Once converted, I can printout a job manifest and projected number of hours allotted to do the job. My crew, on their own, now compete to beat the allotted time. It's become sort of a game for them and more profit for the company!
