HomeEstiMate Version 1How Do I...How do I show indicate a deposit and a discount on the quote?

4.189. How do I show indicate a deposit and a discount on the quote?

Is it possible to print what the customer owes (balance) after they paid the 50% deposit and if they got a percentage discount. I normally have to write it in underneath. If you take the deposit off the discount changes.

Answer: If the quote contains both a deposit and a discount then you will need to do the discount as a line item rather than using the discounts dropdown on the estimate screen. Here is how line-item discounting works:

1. After adding all the line items to the quote that are needed for the job, then click add item > free-form.

2. In the description field type "Customer discount" or other description you want that will tell the customer this is a discount.

3. Put in the amount of the discount as a negative number in the price each field. Click the green OK checkmark to save.

NOTE: You will have to have figured the amount of the discount beforehand to get the dollar figure to enter in this field.

Essentially you will have two line items with negative dollar amounts on the quote: the deposit and the discount.
